BIO
Maria Murgu graduated from the Painting Department of the National University of Arts Bucharest. Since 2015, she has been a Research Assistant at the CINETic, within the National University of Theatre and Film “I.L. Caragiale” (UNATC). In 2017, she earned a PhD in Cinema and Media and is currently a Lecturer in the Department of Cinematography and Television within the Faculty of Film at UNATC.
Her work engages with the image from multiple perspectives. Between 2015 and 2019, Maria Murgu completed the Art Therapy Training Programme organized by the Romanian Association for Expressive Therapies (ARTE) in collaboration with Wiener Schule für Kunsttherapie (WSK, Austria). She facilitates self-discovery and personal development processes through creativity, working with diverse groups, professional training groups, and individual clients.
Maria Murgu has been active in cinematic post-production since 2004, specializing in color grading and digital intermediate workflows. Her portfolio as a colorist includes numerous advertising productions for both Romanian and international markets, as well as Romanian and international feature films that have received major international recognition, including 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days and The Death of Mr. Lazarescu, alongside international productions awarded at film festivals in Hamburg, Sarajevo, Chicago, and Israel.
