Research Project

My doctoral research project was intended becoming a critical review of the new technologies and the alternative approaches used in the creative process by the performance designers. It becomes necessary to understand scenography as an artistic expression that uses transdisciplinary strategies in the design of the performative spaces.  The general analysis relates specifically to the performance space but touches the subject of various manipulations of space and scenographic art in connection with other artistic disciplines and in different contexts imposed by unconventional art forms. The purpose is to find those approaches and research tools that would allow studying scenography as a field in transformation and one that transforms itself, and secondly, is suggesting a reconceptualization by encouraging stronger links between theory and practice.


I hold a Bachelor degree in Scenography from National University of Arts in Bucharest and an MFA in Design and Technical Production – set design from Tulane University, USA. I wrote my master’s thesis on Samuel Beckett’s  Waiting for Godot with the title  “The void on stage – shaping the emptiness”. I also studied anthropology at the University of Bucharest – The Faculty of Sociology and Social Work.
