BIO
Liviu Lucaci is an actor, theatre director, playwright, writer, and Professor, serving as Rector of the National University of Theatre and Film “I.L. Caragiale” (UNATC) in Bucharest since 2020. A graduate of UNATC’s Acting programme, he has been a member of the university’s academic staff since 1994, where he teaches in the Acting master’s programmes and supervises doctoral research.
His professional career combines artistic practice, teaching, and academic leadership. As Rector, he oversees UNATC’s strategic development, promoting excellence in arts education, research, international collaboration, and institutional partnerships. He is committed to fostering innovative and interdisciplinary educational programmes while supporting the integration of emerging technologies into artistic creation, research, and higher education.
As an actor, theatre director, and playwright, Liviu Lucaci has maintained an active artistic career, creating theatre productions, authoring dramatic works, and collaborating with leading cultural institutions across Romania. Through his public engagement, he advocates for the essential role of the arts and culture in society, promoting arts education as a means of cultivating creativity, critical thinking, and civic responsibility.
