Research Project
My research explores the theories of emotion recognition from sound and critiques the predominant approach of discrete emotions theory. I investigate alternative models, such as dimensional theory and constructionist theory, and examine the impact of cultural and social contexts on emotion perception. Through my research, I aim to contribute to the development of more accurate and relevant emotion recognition systems in sound.
Background
I am an interactive artist and coder with an authentic interest for exploring human – machine relations. I have graduated from the MA program Interactive Technologies in Media and Performance Art at UNATC in 2020 and am currently studying emotion recognition from sound at the Interdisciplinary School of Doctoral Studies in Bucharest. Through research, installation art and performance I am questioning different invisible processes between human and machine that have a mutual influence on each other. I am especially interested in creating contexts that encourage rethinking this relationship.
