Group Work and Roles in Groups
The session will begin with a lecture introducing key principles of group work, including the group setting, boundaries, norms, psychological safety, cohesion, and the emergence of roles within groups. The experiential workshop will then invite participants to explore the psychodramatic concept of role and discover the diverse roles they inhabit across relationships and life contexts. Through carefully structured psychodramatic exercises, participants will identify meaningful roles, encounter underdeveloped or less accessible aspects of themselves, and experiment with new roles and possibilities for action. Combining action, reflection, and group sharing, the workshop offers an opportunity to experience how spontaneity and role flexibility can open new ways of relating to oneself and others. Participants will gain both a deeper understanding of their own role repertoire and practical psychodramatic perspectives that can inform their personal and professional work with groups.

Hod Orkibi, PhD, is a Full Professor at the School of Creative Arts Therapies, University of Haifa, where he serves as Chair of the Doctoral Program and Director of the Drama & Health Science Lab. He also teaches in the Drama Therapy Program at New York University and is an active member of the FEPTO Research Committee. With over 100 publications, his research focuses on psychodrama, spontaneity, creativity, resilience, and mechanisms of change in action methods. He was elected to serve as President of Division 10 of the American Psychological Association (2026–2028), the Society for the Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity, and the Arts.
